It was the natural healing properties of Lemongrass that initially captivated Lemongrass House owners Bobby and Palita Duchowny. After years of learning the art of Aromatherapy in remote farm areas around the world the couple established Lemongrass House in Thailand in 1996.
Lemongrass House is committed to developing specialised, eco-friendly products based on a deep belief and understanding of natural ingredients and Essential Oils.
The brand's headquarters – constructed of lemon yellow and lime green recycled shipping containers – sits just opposite the popular Surin Beach in Phuket, Thailand. This location enables Lemongrass House to be at the heart of one of the world's best spa cultures – continually inspiring innovation, creativity and feedback to Bobby and his whole team. "It's so exciting to see the results from our products first hand from such a fantastic variety of spas on a daily basis" says Bobby.
Today, the line has grown to become one of the leading Spa and hotel suppliers in the world and is distributed in 28 countries and found in over 100 five and six star hotels and spas (not to mention being an at-home favourite for discerning skincare lovers everywhere!).
Natural products made from safe renewable resources are not always easy to find in this island-city. After discovering this Thai-secret on holiday Sarafina Pavia decided to bring this spa secret from Thailand to Singapore's shores. First opening its doors in Singapore in July 2008 Lemongrass House's handmade spa products are available for both retail and wholesale distribution.

Bobby Duchowny's fascination with scents can be traced all the way back to his childhood. As a young boy his grandfather, a Film Producer, would tell him how movie theatres would pump an artificial popcorn scent out in to the streets in order to lure potential customers. "I became fascinated about how much scent affects our lives without even realising it" claims Bobby.
Years later, while visiting Thailand on a quest to become an Aromatherapy expert, Bobby Duchowny stumbled upon some Thai farmers greatly ahead of their time. There, the idea for Lemongrass House was born: harnessing the science of Aromatherapy and manufacturing by hand all-natural spa products. In the beginning the brand only produced Neem Tree oil, a natural insecticide to aid local farmers. But it wasn't long until the line soon had a stall at the famous Jatujak Weekend Market in Bangkok and was providing UNICEF with their signature mosquito spray – which they still use to this day.
Today, Bobby prides on continuing to run a truly organic business and is passionate about keeping the promises of his product line. With over 600 products, Bobby is still actively involved in all aspects of Lemongrass House's sourcing, manufacturing and distribution. "It remains fun to do. I never want this to change!""
After discovering Lemongrass House products while on holiday, Sarafina Pavia, a New Zealand native, decided to bring this spa secret to Singapore's shores. "We stumbled across Lemongrass House and I fell in love with their products. At that time, I was also considering starting my own business in Singapore, and everything fell into place when I met Bobby"
As an Entrepreneur by nature, mother, expat (but one who calls Singapore home) Sarafina understands how Lemongrass House's products can work on so many levels, no matter your taste or preference. "Everything is one hundred percent natural and we also sell clothes that are natural and bio-degradable too. We truly have something for everyone!"

All Lemongrass Products are based on a deeply rooted environmental commitment with all ingredients being derived from safe and renewable resources. They contain no animal ingredients and have not been tested on animals. They also contain no perfumes, dyes, sulphates or preservatives.
Everything is hand-blended on site and loving prepared one kilo at a time. In fact, if you pay a trip to the Phuket headquarters you can actually peer into the manufacturing hub where Lemongrass House Mixologists are lovingly hand mixing products right before your eyes.
"We believe the secret to our success lies in the quality of our Essential Oils and the care and attention that goes into developing each of the oil's unique properties" affirms Bobby. "And it doesn't matter how big we get or how many products we have to make we will always do everything one kilo at a time."

A: Being focused and detailed is extremely important as no mistake is allowed in mixing formulas. When you are mixing products in small batches there are no short cuts to ensuring top quality.

A: The thought sometimes leaves me speechless but I love the fact Lemongrass House puts our name in stamp on the bottle of the jars we make. It makes me secretly very proud!

A: Everyday is a learning process in this occupation, I love that I get to educate myself daily and I also enjoy the fact that it is not monotonous.

A: Definitely Eucalyptus! Its refreshing scent is perfect for Phuket’s weather. Eucalyptus revitalises me when I’m feeling tired. A whiff after lunch wakes me up and gets me ready to go again.

A: It has to be the Jasmine Hydrating Body Lotion, keeps my skin baby soft.
Q: What kind of qualities do you think a good mixer should posses?
A: Concentration and keeping focused during your shift is a MUST! An oversight or inaccuracy in formulas is unacceptable.

A: I’m very proud to part of such a hardworking team. We all couldn’t have done it without each other. I think it is a commendable achievement that Lemongrass House products can be found across continents. YES WE CAN!

A: I feel really satisfied when customers give us positive feedback, it makes me determined to be better at my job and I get a lot of enjoyment out of that.

A: Definitely Frangipani. I love sweet smells and Frangipani flowers are known for that.
Q: What kind of qualities should a good mixer possess?
A: I think a mixer always has to be eager to learn and curious about aspects of aromatherapy. I believe a good should always be updated regarding latest scents in the market.
Q: Any unusual requests from customers so far?
A: Customers come in asking for strange mixtures all the time. We try and advise them accordingly but usually if we can accommodate their requests, we will.

A: Lavender - I love the colour of the flower (purple), and the properties for calming and relieving insomnia. When I feel stressed out, I will use it. It instantly calm my nerves.
Q: What qualities make an excellent sales person?
A; I always think that being a sales assistant, you need to be really patient with your customers( treat them as if they are your friends and listen to what they need and concern about), have a good knowledge of what you are promoting, and be a good team-worker too ( team-work is very important ).
Q; What is your favourite part of your job?
A; To be able to meet and serve different customers, and to let them know all about our products. Sometimes, it’s rewarding to us as some customers will share ideas of how they mix their own scent and we learn a lot from them too.
